                    Sir:
                           I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of [     ] 1864 notifying this Office of your intention of resigning your commission as Lieut.

      Before giving you a certificate of non-indebtedness to the United States on account of Ordnance, it will be necessary for the Commanding Officer of the Company, to fill up and transmit to this Office Forms No. "47". Until it is received it is impossible to say what Officers are responsible for Ordnance Stores, and what not. In your letter transmitting it, you must renew your application for a certificate.
