Jesse S. Wooley's 1896 Lantern Slide Tour of Florida

Florida--The Land of Flowers. Discovered by Ponce de Leon March 12, 1512, being the day of "Pasqus-de-Fores," or Feast of Flowers, known in the ritual of the Church as "Pascua Florida." Partly in commemoration of the day and partly as description of the landscape, De Leon gave the new land the name of Florida.
