97. The trip is remarkably interesting, but the greatest charm that is attached to the stream is found when Silver Springs is reached. It is the most famous spring in Florida--600 feet in diameter and 60 feet deep and discharges 3,000,000 gallons of water daily. Tradition tells us that this marvelous rejuvenating spring, of which Ponce de Leon had fabulous tales, lured him to the dark interiors of Indian infiltrated Florida.
