56. Here is the entrance to the old chapel and the dungeon. The door at right leads to the famous dungeon which is reached by a long narrow passage from this room out under one of the bastions. It is surrounded by solid masonry five feet thick and is entered through an opening two feet square. The dungeon is nineteen and one-half feet long--fourteen feet wide and eight feet high.
