23. Here is St. Michael's Church--the most historic building in Charleston. Built between 1752 and 1761, its tower
settled eight inches after the 1886 earthquake. A few facts about the church include that its organ was first brought to America 1767, its chandelier was made in London in 1761, George Washington attended services here
in 1791, and General Robert E. Lee sat in the same pew as Washington in 1862. |
