127. The ride down the Indian River is delightful. Especially when you have a launch in your own control and can go
whither you wish. The river is 142 miles long and very shallow, averaging from 6 to 12 feet deep necessitating those flat bottom and wheeler steamers. It is salt water and virtually a lagoon separated from the ocean by
a narrow strip of land, upon which are grown the famous Indian River Oranges. |
