March 15, 1862	"Gen. Brannan conducted an inspection at Fort Jefferson on Friday. The weather was terribly warm, and the rays of the sun seemed scorching hot....When off duty the men busied themselves by watching for vessels entering the port, viewing the inside of the fort, and rowing for exercise."
