Dear Wife

I recd yours of the 18th last friday. I presume you are at home before this. I have been directing to E. for the last three weeks. we have had much rain & high water but are running. there is nothing new they propose to have a celebration the 4th of the whole county this being the county seat. I send a receipted Tax Bill that you can show to all whom it may concern. it covers Poll & road tax all that I am liable to pay I think.
