Photographs of various meterological activities performed by Pan American Airways

Description

images from page 16 of Pan American Air Ways, Vol. 9, No. 3, April 1938. Main caption reads: "A decade of intensive development of weather observing and reporting by Pan American Airways has resulted in a technique embracing observations, on land and sea, of conditions at the surface and in the upper air, then correlation of these data on a basic weather map. From this map is plotted the detailed flight plan for the schedule at hand. So impressed by this system were the governments at the recent Dublin Conference that they adopted Pan American forms and procedures as a basis for complete coordination of all observation-reporting systems for ironing out the weather problems that will be encountered in Trans-atlantic flying."
