Ibis Yearbook Cover, 1930
Ibis, the yearbook of the University of Miami, made its debut in 1927 at the end of the University's first year. In the foreword of the first yearbook, the strength and spirit of those pioneering students rang out: "We have traditions to follow, no precedents to guide us in our venture into the realms of education.... We are constructing this yearbook for the purpose of making permanent record of accomplishments of our first year." The Ibis has been published annually since that first year and has won many honors, including the All-American rating.

Tempo Magazine Cover, November 1954
Tempo was published from October 1949 to April 1971. The magazine was the brainchild of several World War II veteran photographers enrolled at the University. Tempo was patterned after Life magazine and featured pictures and student written articles about University of Miami activities and people. Tempo won impressive honors in collegiate journalism contests.

The Carrell Cover, June 1962
The Carrell: Journal of the Friends of the University of Miami Library, 1960 - 1996, was established to "make known the notable collections in the University of Miami Library, to evaluate them through the eyes of area scholars, to relate print to people."

The University News, October 4, 1927
The student newspaper had its beginnings in November 1926 as a column called "University News" in the weekly Coral Gables newspaper, the Riviera Times. This turned into a 3-page publication (University News) that appeared briefly in 1927 but soon died out. It was born again as The Miami Hurricane on October 15, 1929.

The First Issue of the Miami Hurricane - October 15, 1929
The Miami Hurricane published its debut issue on October 15, 1929. It replaced the first student newspaper, The University News. The Hurricane went through various changes throughout the years, but has been published continuously since its inception. The current editions are published both in paper and online.
