Boxing -- Archie Slaten, March 1952
The sport of boxing was one of the most popular and successful athletic programs on campus through the 1950's. Boxing matches against rival college and university teams attracted sizeable crowds. This March 4, 1952 photograph captures UM boxer Archie Slaten in action against an opponent from The Citadel.

Buy Our Stadium
The undefeated Miami Hurricanes helped to spur the development of a 1927 campaign for a football stadium in Coral Gables. The campaign, "Its Our University," promoted season ticket subscriptions to support the building fund for a 60,000 seat stadium on the Coral Gables Campus.

Cheerleaders, 1945
Support for sports teams has continued throughout the University's history beginning with the first undefeated football season in 1926. Stories of games, pep rallies and athletic heroes fill the pages of the Miami Hurricane.

Football Team Poster, 1926-1927
Football is one of many sports with a proud athletic tradition at the University of Miami. The initial season of 1926 included a Thanksgiving Day victory over the University of Havana.
