Autograph letter signed by President Andrew Jackson to Colonel R.E.W. Earle, Nashville, TN, August 22, 1836.

Colonel R.E.W. Earle was a close friend and a portrait painter of President Andrew Jackson. In the letter, President Jackson remarks about the family’s health and the recent abuse he’s received from the Whig Party in 1836, when extension for the charter of the Second National Bank expired. President Jackson accused the Second National Bank of fraud and corruption, and shifted the depository of the federal government’s tax revenue to the Bank of Girard in Philadelphia in 1833.
