National poet of Argentina, José Hernández, wrote this 2,316 line epic poem of Martín Fierro, the famous “gaucho” or cowboy from Argentina’s grasslands, as a form of protest to Argentine president Domingo Faustino Sarmiento’s (1868-1874) modern policies. This exquisite book is bound in light brown leather and blindstamped with embossed lettering and raised decorations on the spine and covers.
