Summary:

This German map was published by the company founded by Joseph Meyer after they moved from Gotha to Hildburghausen in 1828 where they remained until 1874, when they moved to Leipzig. The Hand Atlas was published between 1843 and 1860. The low number of counties suggests that it is based on information of about 1834. Insets of Pensacola, Tallahassee and St. Augustine Harbor recognize the predominant ports of the western and eastern coasts as well as the capital Tallahassee. Extensive information is shown in the upper and lower margins. Also there are several references to the Indians and Indian Boundary Lines in the interior. Almost all the details are fairly accurate for the time even though the date of publication is later than the information which is shown.
