Date:

Title:

Map of the State of Florida

Cartographer:

Hinton, J.T. (1828-1831)

Summary:

This lithographed map is from the April 1832 edition of The History and Topography of the United States published by Hinton & Simpkins & Marshall in London. It was engraved and printed by Fenner, Sears & Co. The title reads State of Florida but it was not yet a state.
This is the first publication. The same map was published in 1842 by J. Dowding and engraved by James Archer, and Fenner, Sears & Co. The later one is attributed to John H. Hinton but because the lower margin has been cut off that cannot be verified. The image of that one with later color is shown in the 1840s Chronological Section.
