Title:

Cartes Partulieres

Cartographer:

Ponce, Nicolas (1746-1831)

Summary:

These maps were drawn by Ponce at the house of Mr. Comte d'Artois, engraved by Dupuis and published by d'Artois and Godefroy (fl. 1784) in Paris. They show some of the concessions made to England to France and Spain by the Treaty of France, 1783 in exchange for the Island of Cuba. The other three images of the Atlantic coast of Barbarie Island of Tobago and Island of Minorque show areas which had changed ownership to England in 1763 or at other times.
The map of Florida is cut off on the north just shy of the 31 degree latitude and west just beyond Mobile Bay. Some highland areas are shown in the peninsula but very few place names are shown.
