Title:

Le Golfe de Mexique et les Isles Voisine

Cartographer:

Mortier, Pierre (1661-1711)

Summary:

These two pages join to make one map with many place names along the coasts. The name "La Floridae" again covers the whole southern area from Caroline on the north-east to the Mexican border on the south-west. Inland details such as rivers are lacking and there is some distortion of the west coast of the Florida peninsula. Pierre Mortier was a map publisher in Amsterdam and was associated with the Covens family. Their publications included many mapmakers including Sansan & Jaillot, De Wit, de Fer and re-issues of Blaeu.

This map was in the Suite de Neptune Francois in Amsterdam in 1700.
