Title:

Florida called by ye French Louisiana and C.

Cartographer:

Moll, Herman 1654-1732

Summary:

Herman Moll was German but moved to England in the 1670's and became one of their foremost mapmakers. This map from the Atlas Minor shows the area called Florida limited to the peninsula with the western boundary at the Apalaxy River (Apalachicola). The northern boundary is at about 31° north latitude where it is today. The boundary line is labeled "Limit of King Charles the II. Granted to the present proprietors of Carolina in 1663". This is north of the St. Whans (St. Johns) River. This is certainly more than Moll attributed to Florida on his 1715 map of the West Indies.
