Title:

Louisiane...Mississippi

Cartographer:

Seutteri, Matthaei. S.C.M.G. Augustan (1678-1757)

Summary:

Ion Baptista Homann's map publishing company was taken over by Matthaus Seutter, his competitor, and most of the maps that Seutter published were copies. This map further extends the wishes of the French to claim Louisiana territory by depicting it as extending not only southwest to the Rio del Norte (Rio Grande River) but also east to include the entire peninsula of Florida. The northern border is adjacent to that of Canada at about the Ohio (Oubache) River. Only the eastern coastline area and northeast bear the labels of Carolina, Virginie, et. al.

He did, however, place the name La Floride under La Louisiane in slightly smaller letters.
