The Collaborative Archive from the African Diaspora (CAAD) is an online portal to the collective documentation of Black history and culture in Florida and the Caribbean.
The CAAD provides researchers with educational resources including digital assets, as well as searchable finding aids that contain repository information of non-digitized content such as manuscripts, oral histories, images, books, archives, maps, film, scrapbooks, posters, and other ephemera. The CAAD also hosts exhibits for digital collections that explore an eclectic sampling of topics across the Archive, from the biographical records of prominent African American leaders, to cultural trends among their communities.
CAAD materials are derived from South Florida archives, libraries, and cultural heritage institutions (see Alliance Institutions and Agencies) dedicated to the preservation, accessibility, and development of a collective archive as an educational resource. The CAAD portal provides a single access point to the archive, and the means to further map the African American narrative across the historical landscape of southern United States.
